2011 Appalachian Trail Thru-hike: "My feet hurt"
Georgia to maine on a 5 month journey of pains, PERSEVERANCE &powerful friendships
The 5 months, from March 29th through August 30th of 2011 saw me cover many a mile on foot. 2,181 miles in fact. I followed the seasons up the east coast, from Georgia and the bloom of the Rhododendron and Azalea, to Maine and sunny ponds and the climactic finish at Mt. Katahdin in the remote Baxter State Park.
During my travels I compiled a daily journal of ponderings', as well as many photo and video snapshots of both the human and wilderness components of the hike. Here is a sample of both the thoughts and views that I experienced on this incredible journey.

I want to start off by saying that it is immensely challenging to relay through both written and visual aids, all the emotions, aches and pains, and tests of resolve that a thru-hike requires of those that successfully complete their journey. The highs are very high, and the lows set your pain threshold at near kidney-stone levels.
I will try my best though, and by the use of journal entries and photos, I will try to paint a real-life portrait of what a 5 month hike on the East coast looks like. The story will be told with each state as a new chapter in the story.
So without further delay, here is my story of walking from Georgia to Maine. Let the adventure begin!
2,181 Miles through 14 states. Pick your favorite, or explore a new state and see some of the sights. My hike took me sequentially through the states, so you can follow along, like chapters in a book, or you can mix-and-match to your own liking. Enjoy!
