montbell thermawrap jacket (winter portion of pct & AT
thru-hikes & Generalwinter hiking)
This jacket has seen many things and been many places, and is currently the gear item that I have owned the longest, having been purchased in fall of 2010. I used this jacket for almost all of the AT, and about 250 miles of the PCT. I've also used this jacket as my day-to-day outdoor and casual wear jacket, so I'm sure that it is no exaggeration to say that this jacket has been worn for over a year and a half of DAILY use. Here's why I've hung onto it.

SUMMARY:
Without a single thing bad to say about this jacket, I'd only mention the sizing once more. Larger or rounder individuals may have trouble feeling the same perfect fit that I've experienced. FOR ALL MONTBELL PURCHASES, I'D RECOMMEND SIZING UP A FULL SIZE FROM THEIR JAPANESE SIZING. Since MontBell is a Japanese company, their sizing does run small across their clothing line. A Japanese X-Large is a US Large and so on.

LIKES:
- Excellent durability. I've snowshoed in it for miles on end with a backpack on. I've trail ran in it during winter. Its been worn to work hundreds of times and thrown in a corner. I have not babied this jacket at all. Not a single tear or zipper failure.
- Good sizing. I'm 6'1" and about 165-175 lbs with long arms, and I sized up to a Large in this jacket, and it fit perfectly. It's a trim and athletic cut style, while still being loose enough to never inhibit my movement, and long enough in the arms to not feel like a kids jacket.
- Good Value. Pennies per day is what i must to spending, having owned and used this jacket for as long as I have. I bought it for the full retail of $120, and I'm not disappointed.
- Comfortable hand pockets and a lined collar provide the simple comforts that I look for in this style of jacket. No bells or whistles on this baby, only solid function in a stylish package.
