Western mountaineering megalite 30* Long (Vermont long Trail)
When you need a bag that will outperform most others, comparing weight vs. warmth ratio and quality construction, look no farther than Western Mountaineering. A+ work on everything they do, they are considered the benchmark of the industry, and for good reason.
Weight: 25 oz. (13 oz. of 850 fill down)
Size: Long (6'6")
Circumference: 64" shoulder, 39" foot
As seen on the Western Mountaineering website, the full specs are very informative:
The MegaLite is cut to suit large folks so they too can enjoy the benefits of the ExtremeLite™ bags. No claustrophobia here with 64" of shoulder girth tapering to 39" at the foot. 12 ounces of goose down provides a temperature rating of 30°, and continuous baffles allow you to adjust the fill to suit your needs. At only 1 lb. 8 oz. this is your best friend during a summer bike trip.
Summary:
I found the extra girth to allow me to cross my legs inside the sleeping bag, something that I look for in sleeping bags. Comfortable hood, and plenty of wiggle room for a thinner sleeper than wants room to stretch, it's the perfect 3 season bag. Warm to it's rating (an exception among sleeping bag companies) I have yet to find a fault in the bag. Compresses well, and re-lofts quickly. At $460 for the Long length ($450 for the regular, $440 for the short) it is an investment to be sure, but it is an investment well made.
