NORTH CAROLINA: ONE DOWN - ONLY 13 LEFT TO GO!
From meeting new friends, rafting down a cold river, scaring away a black bear, surviving 70 mph winds and rain, and carrying 2 lbs of Tortilla chips into the woods with me, it turned out to be an interesting state.
Home to the highest point on the southern A.T., Clingman's Dome, North Carolina's Great Smokey Mountains National Park (GSMNP) was certainly a highlight of the state. Hard hiking that rewarded me with moments of feeling like I was lost in a Lord of The Rings movie set, the scenery didn't fail to meet expectations.
Hardened by the demands of the Smokies, I left NC sore but elated. It appears that NC won't be the state to stall my attempt at reaching Maine.
Now for the photos !
