Northern Vermont Long Trail 2012 Gear List
I completed hiking the Vermont Long Trail (LT) over the course of two long hikes. The first 100 miles of this trail I hiked while on my 2011 Appalachian Trail (AT) hike - since both trails overlap in this section.
The last 173 miles I hiked in Mid-September 2012 using the gear list seen below; and I would have been fine using this gear on the AT, or vice versa, using the AT gear on the LT.
I choose gear for the LT mostly based on DURABILITY, since this is a very rugged and challenging trail. Especially in the north.
Some amount of scrambling and getting tangled in trees is almost guaranteed!
Again, backpacking is dangerous and this list is only showing what I brought during my hike. Your needs and gear may be different depending on physical ability, weather, time of year / season, and familiarity with all the facets of safety while in the outdoors.
Now get out there and go play in the woods, and don't sue me if you get hurt.
